Learn how to properly clean and service your RV's water heater.

Turn Power Off

Turn the water heater and RV shore power sources off and allow the water to cool before proceeding.

Relieve Pressure

Flip up the lever on your pressure relief valve to remove any pressure from the water heater.

Clear Debris

Use an air compressor to clean debris from the burner chamber and burner tube. on the water heater.

Drain Water Heater

Remove the plug or anode rod with a wrench and drain all water from the hot water tank.

Rinse Tank

Run water into the tank using a tank rinser tool. Then, allow remaining water to drain.

Clean Around the Heater

Use a rag and all purpose cleaner to clean the water heater exterior access compartment.
