As a full-time RVer, I’ve become accustomed to cooking with limited appliances in a small space (and cooking outside). However, cooking at the campsite becomes more challenging when we are joined by friends and need to feed a large group.

Over the years, I’ve collected my favorite recipes that can feed a crowd and are simple to prepare. Here are 25 RV camping meal ideas that make enough to feed a large group and leave everyone full and happy.

RV Breakfast Meals for a Crowd

Breakfast Burritos

Premade breakfast burritos are my favorite campground breakfast. When we are camping with a large group, I premake simple breakfast burritos with eggs and grilled veggies. Then, I wrap each burrito in tinfoil before putting them in the fridge or cooler.

In the morning, I start a small fire and slowly heat the burritos over the hot coals. As campers wake up, they can come over and grab a burrito off the campfire.

French Toast Sticks

Another great grab-and-go campground breakfast is French toast sticks. Just make French toast as you normally would, but use a thick bread and cut it into strips before dipping it in the egg and milk mixture.

Then cook the sticks in batches on a cast iron over the campfire, over a camp stove, or inside the RV. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, and send out plates to hungry campers who can grab a stick or two from each batch.

Crockpot Breakfast Casserole

Crockpots are a great tool for feeding a crowd at the campground. If we have hookups, I’ll throw together a simple breakfast casserole with eggs, hash browns, peppers, cheese, and breakfast meat the night before. Then I cook it on low overnight.

By the time everyone wakes up, our campsite already smells like breakfast. Then I just scoop it into bowls to serve. It’s filling, easy, and always a crowd pleaser.

Parfait Bar

Don’t want to start a campfire or heat up your RV? A yogurt parfait bar is one of the easiest breakfasts you can set up for a large group. All you need is a few big containers of yogurt, some granola, fruit like berries or bananas, and some toppings such as peanut butter and honey.

I usually set everything out on the picnic table and let people build their own parfait. It works especially well when people wake up at different times because the food can just sit there, and everyone can help themselves.

Muffins

Muffins are another easy breakfast that travels well. I’ll often bake a few dozen before the trip and store them in large containers.

In the morning, they’re ready to grab with a cup of coffee. Blueberry, banana, or bran are all good options. But if your campground crowd includes kids, chocolate chip muffins will make you very popular.

RV Lunch Ideas for a Crowd

Pasta Salad

My favorite camping lunch to make for a big group is pasta salad. It can be pre-made and ready to serve, and it is very filling. I usually make an Italian pasta salad with tomatoes, bell peppers, mozzarella pearls, red onions, olives, and Italian dressing. But there are so many ways to make this simple lunch.

Bean Salad

If you want something a little more unique than a pasta salad, a bean salad is another great option that is filling and easy to make ahead. There are so many versions of this meal. You can use any type of bean and add any of your favorite vegetables.

Food with Feeling’s dense bean salad recipe is a great one to follow if you aren’t feeling creative.

Baked Potato Bar

When you are camping in the fall or spring and have a campfire going all day, a baked potato bar is a great lunch for a large group.

Start by poking fork holes in the potatoes. Then, wrap them tightly in two layers of heavy-duty foil and place them directly into a bed of hot embers. Rotate them every 10–15 minutes for even cooking until fork-tender. They usually take about 40 to 60 minutes to cook.

Once the potatoes are done, set out a variety of toppings on the picnic table and let everyone customize their own.

Peanut Butter and Jelly

Camping meals don’t have to be complicated to be great. PB & Js are one of the easiest foods to make, but they are also very popular with both kids and adults. Plus, they can be premade and are safe to be left at room temperature for several hours.

If you want to make this lunch a little more special, have a variety of jams and jellies and some additional toppings like honey and banana slices.

Giant Italian Subs

When you are feeding a crowd, big sandwiches are a fun and filling option. Giant Italian subs are easy to assemble and can feed a lot of people with very little work. Just slice a few large loaves of Italian bread and layer them with deli meats like salami, ham, and turkey. Add sliced cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and a drizzle of Italian dressing.

Then cut the sandwiches into smaller sections so people can grab a piece. They’re easy to eat, filling, and perfect if everyone wants to sit around the campsite and relax for lunch.

RV Dinner Ideas for a Crowd

Campfire Skewers

Campfire skewers are one of the easiest dinners to make for a group because they can be pre-assembled and then cooked over the campfire.

Just cut up chunks of chicken, steak, or tofu and place them on kebab sticks (soak the sticks first to prevent sticking) with chunks of peppers, onions, zucchini, mushrooms, and whatever other veggies you like.

Place the skewers in a Tupperware in the RV fridge the day before you head to the campground. At dinnertime, cook them over the campfire or on a grill until everything is cooked through.

Walking Tacos

Walking tacos are one of the most popular camping meals for a crowd because they’re simple and they don’t require any dishes to serve.

Start by cooking a big skillet of taco meat or your favorite veggie filling in the crockpot, on the camp stove, or over the fire. Then set out snack-size bags of chips like Fritos or Doritos along with toppings like shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, salsa, and sour cream.

Each person opens a bag of chips, adds the taco filling and toppings, and eats it with a fork right out of the bag.

Barbeque Sandwiches

Barbeque sandwiches are another easy meal when you’re feeding a big group. I usually make pulled pork in the crockpot for an easy, but crowd-pleasing meal.

At dinnertime, just put out hamburger buns, coleslaw, pickles, and extra BBQ sauce so people can build their own sandwich. It’s simple, filling, and easy to scale if more campers show up than expected. Leftover pasta or bean salad from lunch makes the perfect side dish.

Campfire Chili

Chili is one of my go-to dinners when we are camping with friends. It’s easy to make a huge pot, and it feeds a lot of people without much effort.

Just brown the meat in a large pot or Dutch oven, then add beans, tomatoes, onions, and chili seasoning. Let it simmer over the campfire or on a camp stove for a while so the flavors come together. Or if you aren’t feeling up to outdoor cooking, just throw it all in the crockpot.

Serve it with sour cream, tortilla chips, and shredded cheese, and you have a hearty dinner that will keep everyone warm and full.

Sausages and Dogs

Sausages and hot dogs are classic camping foods for a reason. They are easy to cook in big batches. Just throw them on a grill or over the fire, then set out buns and toppings like mustard, ketchup, onions, relish, and sauerkraut.

It’s quick, easy, and perfect after a long day of hiking, kayaking, or exploring. It’s also a great meal to accommodate a variety of dietary restrictions and picky eaters. You can serve hot dogs to the kids, brats for the big guys, and chicken and veggie sausages for healthy eaters.

Pinwheels

Pinwheels are one of the easiest snacks to bring when you are feeding a group at the campground. They look a little fancy, but they are actually very simple to make.

Just spread cream cheese on large tortillas and add fillings like deli turkey, ham, or salami along with lettuce or shredded cheese. Then roll the tortilla tightly and slice it into small rounds.

I usually make a big tray of these before the trip and keep them in the fridge. When people get hungry, I just pull them out and set the tray on the picnic table. They disappear quickly.

Hawaiian Roll Sandwiches

Hawaiian roll sandwiches are another great snack or light lunch for a big group. The rolls come connected in a big pack, which makes them really easy to turn into sliders.

Just slice the whole pack in half, layer in deli meat and cheese or egg salad, and put the top back on. Then, slide them back in the original package for easy storage. You can serve them cold or warm them up on a grill or in the RV oven if you have one. Either way, they’re soft, slightly sweet, and always a hit.

Trail Mix

Trail mix is one of the easiest snacks to keep around when camping because it stores well and doesn’t require refrigeration. Before a trip, I usually mix together a big bag with nuts, pretzels, chocolate candies, raisins, and dried fruit. You could also add cereal or coconut flakes.

Then, I just leave the bag out on the picnic table so people can grab a handful whenever they want. It’s a great snack to keep everyone going between meals.

Protein Balls

Protein balls are another snack that is easy to make ahead of time. They’re usually made with oats, peanut butter, honey, and things like chocolate chips or flax seeds. Just mix everything together, roll the mixture into small balls, and store them in the fridge or cooler.

They’re small but surprisingly filling, which makes them perfect when campers need a quick snack before heading out on a hike or paddle.

Cheese and Crackers

Cheese and crackers might be the simplest snack on this list, but it is always a crowd-pleaser. Slice up a few blocks of cheese before you head to the campsite and serve them with a big box of crackers.

If you want to make it a little nicer, you can add things like grapes, olives, mustard, or sliced summer sausage.

RV Desserts for a Crowd

S’mores

It’s not an original idea, but s’mores are a crowd favorite at the campground.

All you need are graham crackers, chocolate bars, and marshmallows. Roast the marshmallow over the campfire until it’s gooey, then sandwich it between the graham crackers and chocolate.

If you want to wow the crowd, check out our favorite non-traditional s’more recipes that will surprise and delight your camping friends.

S’more Rice Krispies

If you want the flavors of s’mores without making them one by one over the fire, s’more Rice Krispies treats are a great option for a crowd.

Just make Rice Krispies treats as you normally would, but mix in crushed graham crackers and chocolate chips. Some recipes also add mini marshmallows for extra gooeyness.

You can make a big batch at home, cut them into squares, and store them in a container until the trip. Then just set them out after dinner and let everyone grab one.

Cookies

Cookies are another easy dessert to bring when you’re camping with a large group. The easiest option is to just bake a few batches at home before the trip and store them in airtight containers.

Chocolate chip cookies are always popular, but oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, or sugar cookies all work well. They travel easily, don’t require refrigeration, and people can grab one whenever they want something sweet.

If you want to make your camping cookies special, get this Happy Camper cookie cutter set and make sugar cookies shaped like campers and campfires.

No-Bake Caramel Corn

If you want a sweet snack that feeds a crowd, caramel corn is a great option. It’s crunchy, sweet, and easy to make in big batches before your trip. One recipe I like comes from this KOA camping dessert guide.

Puppy Chow

Puppy chow (sometimes called muddy buddies) is another dessert that’s perfect for camping because it’s easy to make ahead and feeds a lot of people.

The basic recipe mixes cereal with melted chocolate and peanut butter, then coats everything in powdered sugar. The result is a crunchy, sweet snack that’s hard to stop eating.

I usually make a big batch before the trip and store it in a large container or zip-top bags. Then I just set it out on the picnic table in the evening while everyone is hanging out around the campfire. It is super messy, so we keep it outside and don’t let the kids eat it in the RV.

We hope you found some great meal ideas for your group camping trip. In addition to great meal ideas, you also need to stock your RV with practical dishes and cookware for indoor and outdoor cooking.

Happy Camping!
