I’ve lived in an RV for 9 years and I am here to answer the top questions people frequently ask about RV living. These are questions we are asked repeatedly, so I’ve compiled the answers in one place. Here are the 5 most asked questions about RV life.

1. What’s Your Favorite Place You’ve Visited?
By far, the question I get asked the most is, “What’s your favorite place you’ve been?” Honestly, I don’t have just one answer. We’ve been lucky to visit so many incredible places that it’s hard to choose a favorite. Some highlights include:
- Baja, Mexico – Beautiful beaches and warm, friendly people.
- Banff National Park in Canada – Breathtaking mountains and lakes.
- Northeast USA – This summer, we explored Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Everywhere we went was absolutely gorgeous.
The truth is, every place has something special, so it’s tough to pick a favorite. My advice? Try to visit as much of the country as you can! Here is a list I made of my 15 favorite RV campsites, and that is about as far as I can narrow it down.
2. How Did You Retire So Young?
Another common question I get is, “How did you retire so young?” The answer is simple: I didn’t! For the first three years on the road, I telecommuted to a corporate job. I am now self-employed but still work more than 40 hours most weeks.
I am working while we travel, not retired. Full-time RV life doesn’t always mean retirement—it can also be a way to enjoy life while still working.
Here are some career options for non-retired full-time RVers.
3. Can You Vote, and Where Do You Vote?
Yes, we can vote! Every full-time RVer needs a legal residence, called a “domicile,” even if they don’t have a physical house. Our domicile is in South Florida, so that’s where we’re registered to vote. We usually vote by mail using a mail-in ballot.
Setting up a domicile can be a bit complicated. If you want to learn more, read our complete guide to understanding RV domicile.
4. How Do You Get Internet on the Road?
To get internet on the road, we use a mobile hotspot (or “jetpack”) from our cellular provider. As long as we have Verizon service, we can connect to the internet through this little box.
We have 150 gigabytes of data each month, which is plenty for us since we don’t stream much TV. Many full-time RVers have Starlink satellite internet, but it was too expensive for us.
5. Do You Cook in Your RV?
Surprisingly, I get asked this question a lot! And the answer is absolutely yes. We cook about 80-90% of our meals in our RV. We have a full kitchen with everything we need to prepare meals.
Of course, we still eat out sometimes, especially when visiting new places where there are new restaurants to try. But cooking in the RV is something we do every day and something we enjoy.
