Colorado is one of our favorite RV destinations. The state is an an outdoor lover’s paradise with majestic mountains, impressive hiking and so much more.

RVing is a great way to explore this state (at least during the warmer half of the year). Below are our picks for the 15 best RV parks in Colorado.

Sand Dunes Recreation

Claim to Fame: Coolest Swimming Complex in Colorado

Sand Dunes Recreation is a truly unique experience, and personally, one of my favorite RV destinations. There are 10 RV sites with water and electric hookups and 10 overflow dry camping sites. While the RV sites themselves are nothing to write home about, the pool facilities are worth the trip.

Families can enjoy the large outdoor pool with diving boards and on-site grill. The best feature is the adult-only Greenhouse, which includes three small soaking tubs with varying temperatures, a 75 foot zero entry pool, a sauna, gardens and an on-site bar.

Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort

Claim to Fame: The Best RV Park in Colorado Springs

Located in the Pike’s Peak region of Colorado Springs, Mountaindale RV Resort is a natural paradise teeming with wildlife. Furry visitors include deer, hummingbirds, foxes and bears.

Adventurers can explore the 45 acre property and hike up the resort’s small mountain via a clearly marked trail. In addition to the natural features, the RV park include spacious full hookup sites, high-speed Wi-Fi, a dog park and laundry room.

Elk Meadow Lodge & RV Resort

Claim to Fame: Luxury Camping near Rocky Mountain National Park

Located just a few minutes from both Rocky Mountain National Park and the village of Estes Parks, Elk Meadow RV Resort will satisfy nature lovers and city folks alike.

The resort’s RV sites have full hookups and views of the Rocky Mountains. Other campground amenities include a swimming pool, an off-leash pet area, mini golf, horseshoes and a laundry room

Moraine Park Campground

Claim to Fame: Best RV Park in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park

Moraine Park Campground is located at over 8,000 feet in Colorado’s awe-inspiring Rocky Mountain National Park, and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The RV sites in Moraine Park do not have hookups, but the stunning views and proximity to hiking trails justify the rustic experience.

Mountain Views RV Resort

Claim to Fame: Best Long-Term RV Park in Colorado

In addition to the RV park for overnight campers, Mountain View RV Resort has lots for permanent and seasonal RV residents. Sites in the RV resort come equipped with full hookups, cement patios, split rail fences and landscaping.

Owners can choose to add a cabin, hot tub, fire pit and/or an outdoor kitchen to create a true luxury camping escape. Both travelers and residents can enjoy the on-site amenities, including a fitness center, laundry room, fishing pond and dog park.

CanyonSide Campground

Claim to Fame: Best Small RV Park in Colorado

CanyonSide Campground is a small family operated campground on 10 spacious acres with just five cabins, eight tent sites and five RV sites. The RV spaces have full hookups, beautiful views and access to Wi-Fi.

While the campsites are very nice, they are not large and the campground can only accommodate rigs up to 30 feet long. Advertised as 420-friendly, the proprietors won’t mind if you enjoy some legal cannabis in the campground.

Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountains

Claim to Fame: Most Luxurious RV Park in Colorado

Located in Granby, Colorado, Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountains RV Resort is a great place to camp, play and relax. Their pull-thru, full hookup RV sites have everything a camper could ask for including level, concrete pads and fire pits.

RVers can enjoy a luxury vacation without every leaving the resort. On-site amenities include a bar and grill, mini bowling alley, yoga lawn, swimming pool, golf cart rentals and more!

Ranger Lakes Campground

Claim to Fame: Best State Park RV Campground in Colorado

Ranger Lakes, located in State Forest State Park, is a beautiful public campground. The RV park offers 31 campsites with 30 and 50 amp electric hookups. Each campsite is spacious and features scenic views.

Lucky campers may see a moose wondering around the campground in early morning hours. Hiking trails and a fishing pier can be accessed from the campground.

Tiger Run RV Resort

Claim to Fame: Best RV Resort in a Colorado Ski Town

This Breckenridge resort offers RV camping in a luxury atmosphere. Tiger Run’s RV campsites all have concrete pads, grassy areas and full hookups. Premium spots offer additional amenities including river views and log cabin-style picnic structures.

The resort has many amenities, including swimming pools, hot tubs , tennis courts, fitness center, fishing, access to hiking trails and laundry facilities.

Palisade Base Camp

Claim to Fame: RV Park with the Most Impressive Views

Palisade Base Camp RV Resort offers unique and stunning 360 degree views of bluffs, the Colorado river and vineyards. Located near historic downtown Palisade, wineries, orchards and mountain biking trails, the area has something for everyone to enjoy.

All of the RV sites offer full hookups and beautiful views. Premium sites have concrete patios and grassy lawns. The resort’s amenities include a swimming pool, riverfront walking trail, natural boulder playground, peach orchard, dog park and laundry room.

Wolf Creek Run Motorcoach Resort

Claim to Fame: Best Class A Only RV Park in Colorado

Located along the San Juan river in southwest Colorado, Wolf Creek Run Resort has breathtaking views and several riverfront RV campsites. Each beautifully landscaped, full hookup site includes a level concrete pad and a gazebo with a covered porch.

Other resort features include high speed Wi-Fi, laundry facilities and regular social activities. Unfortunately for us fifth wheelers, only Class A motorhomes are permitted.

Glenwood Canyon Resort

Claim to Fame: Best RV Park in Colorado for Adventure Lovers

Glenwood Canyon Resort offers small waterfront sites on the Colorado River with electric-only hookups and larger, full hookup RV sites with views of the canyon. The on-site adventure center offers whitewater rafting trips, kayaking, zip line tours, high ropes course, a climbing wall and bike rentals.

The campground also offers fishing (with a permit) and a boat ramp on the river. Their more typical resort amenities include a bar and grill, Wi-Fi, playground and laundry facilities.

James M. Robb – Colorado River State Park

Claim to Fame: (The Other) Best State Park RV Campground in Colorado

I know, we already picked a best state park campground, but this one is equally as beautiful! There are actually two RV campgrounds with full hookups in James M. Robb – Colorado River State Park.

The Island Acres campground offers spectacular views of the surrounding canyon walls and a chance to glimpse wild horses and big horn sheep. On the other hand, the Fruita section camping offers RV campsites within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Both campgrounds offer fishing, playgrounds, coin showers and laundry facilities.

Colorado Springs KOA Holiday

Claim to Fame: Best RV Park in Colorado for Dogs

The Colorado Springs KOA Holiday is a dog-friendly paradise with views of Pikes Peak. The resort offers RV sites with private Paw Pens, a large dog park and the nearby Garden of the Gods offers several dog friendly hiking trails among its impressive red rock formations.

This resort also has plenty of amenities for human kids, including a swimming pool, full water park with slides, playground, jump pad, wagon rides, bike rentals and even a bubble park. Make sure to purchase a KOA Rewards membership for a discount on the nightly rate.

Bear Creek Lake Park

Claim to Fame: Best RV Park near Denver, Colorado and Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Located just outside Denver, Bear Creek Lake Park offers a peaceful atmosphere with spacious sites. Camping near a city provides the best of both worlds. RVers can enjoy the natural Colorado beauty, while also taking advantage of all the cultural activities offered in Denver. 

The campground features 47 campsites which each have a fire ring, a picnic table and electrical hookups. Restrooms, showers, shared water-fill stations and dump stations are also available. Within the park, campers will find hiking trails, fishing, a swim beach and an archery range.

We love to attend concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheater, and we always stay at Bear Creek Lake Park when we are in town for a show. The location is super convenient for concert-goers.
