While many visitors to Louisiana only visit the vibrant streets of New Orleans, there is also plenty of natural beauty to be found in the Bayou State. Below are the 14 best RV Parks in Louisiana to visit on a road trip around the state.

Best RV Parks near New Orleans

The French Quarter RV Resort

New Orleans is the top destination in the state, and it also has some of the best RV parks in Louisiana. For campers who want to be close to the action, the French Quarter RV Park is within walking distance of the city’s most most famous neighborhood.

Back at the RV park, travelers can enjoy several luxurious amenities, including a beautiful courtyard with a swimming pool, hot tub and bar area.

The campsites all offer full hookups, and some also have private, screened gazebos that provide shade and protection from bugs. Of course, all of these amenities come at a price with campsites renting for over $100 per night.

New Orleans RV Resort and Marina

If camping near the French Quarter is not your scene, New Orleans RV Resort and Marina (formerly Pontchartrain Landing) is another great RV park in New Orleans. Located north of the city, this RV park is a 15 minute drive to the French Quarter, but there is plenty to do right at the campground.

The park sits directly on Lake Pontchartrain and also offers a marina with parking for water-based travelers. Inside the park, visitors can enjoy a swimming pool, full-service bar and restaurant and a children’s playground.

There are several different campsites with varying rates, but all of them offer full hookups. For a true luxury experience, book the Presidential campsite which includes a private hot tub and bar area with water views.

Best RV Parks in Southern Louisiana

Cajun Palms RV Resort

Located just 20 minutes west of Lafayette and just north of Interstate 10, Cajun Palms RV Resort is one of the best RV parks in Louisiana for campers of all ages.

Families will enjoy the huge swimming pools with beverage service, water slides, pirate ship and concession stands. Adults traveling without kids will enjoy the on-site Tiki bar, adults-only hot tub and video poker games.

If those amenities are not enough, campers can also fish in the stocked ponds and rent golf carts to cruise around the campground. All of their RV campsites include a concrete pad and full hookups.

Cypress Lake Resort

For a quieter family camping trip, Cypress Lake Resort is a great campground to relax and enjoy Louisiana’s Bayou Country. Located in Berwick, Louisiana on a small lake, the campground features lots of shade from its many beautiful cypress trees.

Campers can enjoy cruising around on land or water as the campground offers on-site boat, kayak and golf cart rentals. Other amenities include a swimming pool, fish cleaning station and laundry facilities.

Lakeside RV Park

Another lakefront RV campground, Lakeside RV Park is a great campground near Baton Rouge. Special features at this campground include beautiful lake views with shaded sitting areas and a swimming pool with umbrellas and lounge chairs.

The park is arranged around the lake, so many of the campsites are waterfront and almost all have a water view. Other amenities include a playground, fenced dog park, laundry room, sports courts and a family game room.

Sea Rim State Park

State parks are a great place to take the whole family to go RV camping, and Sea Rim State Park is one of the best. While this park is located in Texas, it is just miles from the Louisiana border.

There are three RV camping areas at Sea Rim. The RV sites in the Piping Plover Loop are located close to the beach access and have electric and water hookups, picnic tables and grills.

While they do not have hookups, the primitive campsites on the East Beach and West Beach are the prime spots. These first come, first serve campsites are literally on the beach. In addition to camping, this state park offers fishing, paddle trails and beaches.

Best RV Parks in Central Louisiana

Chicot State Park

Chicot State Park is located in south central Louisiana on Lake Chicot. The park’s two RV campgrounds have 198 RV campsites with water and electric hookups. Both campgrounds also offer boat launches, docks, fishing piers and dump stations.

Outside the RV park, campers will enjoy strolling through the Louisiana State Arboretum which is inside the state park. Other outdoor activities include a water playground, hiking trails, canoe trails and plentiful birding opportunities.

Natchitoches Pecan Orchard RV Park

Located in Natchitoches, the oldest settlement in Louisiana, Pecan Orchard RV Park provides a relaxing and verdant setting for RV families. The RV park’s campsites are super spacious and feature grass lawns and ample shade from the trees.

Sites also offer full hookups, gravel pads and concrete patios. Campers will stay entertained with several fun amenities including an 18-hole putt putt golf course and batting cages. The park is located right along the Cane River Heritage Trail and is just 15 miles south of downtown Natchitoches.

River View RV Park and Resort

Located right on the Mississippi River in Vidalia, Louisiana, River View RV Park and Resort is just across the bridge from Natchez, Mississippi, the oldest settlement on the Mississippi. Their RV campsites have full hookups and grass or concrete pads.

If just sitting and watching boats float down the river isn’t enough entertainment, the park also offers a swimming pool, hot tub, playground and dog park. There is also a shuttle service to a local casino for campers who enjoying gambling.

Located on a reservoir on the Texas-Louisiana border, South Toledo Bend State Park has one of the best RV Parks in Louisiana. The campground is small but very memorable. The waterfront RV park offers just over 50 campsites with water and electric hookups.

The state park also offers a sandy beach swimming area, fishing piers, nature trails and a boat launch. Travelers should keep an eye out for bald eagles as the park is a common nesting grounds for the large birds.

Chemin-A-Haut State Park

Chemin-A-Haut State Park is situated on a high bluff overlooking Bayou Bartholomew in the northeast corner of Louisiana. The campground has 26 premium RV sites with full hookups. Primitive camping is also available for RVers.

Campers can enjoy the park’s natural beauty on hiking trails or from a kayak. Catering to children and families, the state park also has two playgrounds and a swimming complex with a full-size pool and a wading pool for younger kids.

D’Arbonne Pointe

Located on a lake with the same name in Farmerville, Louisiana, D’Arbonne Pointe’s lodging options include waterfront rental cabins and RV campsites. All of the campsites in this 25 site RV park offer full hookups.

While small, the campground has everything a family needs for a relaxing RV vacation. Activities campers will enjoy include relaxing on the sandy beach, swimming in the campground’s pool and fishing in the lake.

Lake Claiborne State Park

Located in central, northern Louisiana, Lake Claiborne State Park offers 87 water and electric hookup RV campsites as well as additional primitive campsites. RV campers can enjoy over 12 miles of hiking trails in the area’s pine forest.

There are also plenty of water activities, including boating, waterskiing, paddling and swimming. The swimming area is great for campers of all ages as it is situated on an inlet of the lake and is protected from boats and waterskiers. Shreveport / Bossier City KOA
