With nicknames including the Coal State and the Oil State, Pennsylvania is not best known for its outdoor adventures. However, from the shores of Lake Erie to the peaks of the Poconos, there are plenty of great RV camping options in the state. Below are the 20 best RV parks in Pennsylvania.

Best RV Parks near Erie, Pennsylvania
Located on the shores of the great lake with the same name, Erie, Pennsylvania is the best spot in the state for a summer beach vacation. All campers should explore the nearby Presque Isle State Park, located on a peninsula with beaches and trails. For campers who love the beach, these Erie campgrounds are some of the best RV parks in Pennsylvania.
Erie KOA Holiday
Located nine miles from Presque Island, the Erie KOA Holiday is a great family friendly campground. The medium-size campground offers under 100 full and partial hookup RV campsites, all of which are close to the small, on-site lake. Tent camping and cabin rentals are also available. In addition to the nearby beaches, there are plenty of fun activities to entertain visitors. Campers can fish in the KOA’s catch and release pond, swim in the campground’s heated pool, play games in the recreation room or bounce on the jump pad. In the summer, movies are screened daily and ice cream socials are held every weekend.
Lampe Campground
Located beside the Lampe Marina on Lake Erie, Lampe Campground offers 42 waterfront campsites for RVs. Each campsite includes water and electric hookups, and restrooms and a dump station are available for all campers. The campground is open from May through October, and reservations are available up to one year in advance.
The main amenity of this RV campground is its proximity to the water. A bike path leas directly from the campground to Presque Isle State Park and other waterfront attractions. A free public boat launch is also available on-site. Lampe also has basic amenities, including a fire ring at each campsite and laundry facilities.
Presque Isle Passage RV Park
Only seven miles from the beach, Presque Isle Passage RV Park is another great RV camping option near Erie, Pennsylvania. The campground offers over 100 RV campsites with full hookups, Wi-Fi and cable TV. Each campsite also has its own picnic table and fire ring. The campground is open from April to October.
The campground has many amenities for the whole family, including a heated swimming pool and a catch and release fishing pond. There are also several places for kids to play, including an indoor game room, a playground, a corn hole area and other yard games.
Sara’s Campground
Sara’s Campground is located on prime Erie real estate, nestled between the beach on Lake Erie and the Presque Isle Bay. Their more than 100 RV campsites offer full or partial hookups, and many also have views of the water. Tent campers are able to pitch their tent right on the sand. The campground is open from April to October.
All campers at Sara’s Campground have access to the sandy beach on Lake Erie. Off the beach, there is a playground, basketball court and a game room. The campground is also walking or biking distance to many local restaurants, shops and attractions. Less than a mile from the campground, visitors can cool off at Waldameer Water World.
Best RV Parks in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains
The Pocono Mountains, also known as Poconos, encompass forested peaks, lakes and valleys in northeast Pennsylvania. These mountain camping retreats are some of the best RV parks in Pennsylvania.
Otter Lake Camp Resort

Scotrun RV Resort
Located just 10 minutes away from Camelback Mountain Resort, Scotrun RV Resort is a great Poconos camping destination. The campground has just over 100 full hookup RV campsites. Scotrun closes in the winter, and is open from April through October.
Amenities at Scotrun RV Resort include an outdoor swimming pool complex with multiple pools, as well as a private lake where campers can fish. Other fun features include a miniature golf course, nature trails, a playground and basketball and shuffleboard courts. Silver Valley Campsites
Located right in the middle of the Pocono Mountains, Silver Valley Campsites is a family owned and operated camping retreat. The campground offers full hookup RV sites with cable TV and Wi-Fi. The RV park is open all year, and even offers water hookups for winter campsites.
Campers at Silver Valley can enjoy swimming in both the indoor and outdoor saltwater swimming pools. Other fun amenities at the campground include three stocked fishing ponds, a game room and two large rec halls. During the summer, Silver Valley hosts regular group activities, including bingo, ice cream socials and live music.
StonyBrook RV Resort
Located in the southern Poconos region near the Lehighton Valley, StonyBrook RV Resort is an awesome camping getaway. The resort has just under 100 RV campsites, all of which include full hookups, Wi-Fi, cable TV and stone or concrete pads. Premium campsites also include paver patios, patio furniture and a smokeless fire pit. StonyBrook is open year-round.

Best RV Parks near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh is a great city that has a lot to offer for travelers of all ages. All of the following RV resorts and campgrounds are less than an hour’s drive away from all of the city’s major attractions.
Madison / Pittsburgh S.E. KOA Journey
Located about 40 miles southeast of the center of Pittsburgh, the Madison / Pittsburgh S.E. KOA Journey is one great option for campers looking to visit the city. The RV park offers over 100 campsites, all with full hookups. The campground is open year-round.
This RV campground has all the fun amenities campers expect at KOAs. Fun features include an outdoor swimming pool, a playground, a jumping pillow and a catch and release fishing lake. Campers can also rent canoes or fishing boats to take out on the lake.
Miller’s Campground
Located in New Alexandria, Pennsylvania, Miller’s Campground is 45 minutes east of Pittsburgh. The family owned and operated campground offers full hookup RV campsites for seasonal and nightly visitors. The campground has mature trees and incredible views for all campers to enjoy.
Miller’s Campground is located just a few minutes’ drive from Keystone State Park, where campers can enjoy fishing, boating, swimming and hiking. Back at the campground, on-site amenities include a camp store with treats and basic supplies, a playground and a basketball court.
Mountain Top Campground
Just over 20 miles from the center of the city, Mountain Top Campground is one of the closest RV parks to Pittsburgh. With only around 30 campsites available for nightly stays, reservations should be made well in advance of your desired stay. The campsites include electric and water hookups and access to the campground’s dump station.
Although the RV park is super close to the city, the elevated property has amazing nature views in every direction. These beautiful views and proximity to the city’s attractions are the campgrounds main amenities. The campground also has bathhouses and a stage for live music events.
Pine Cove Beach Club and RV Resort
Located 50 minutes south of the city, Pine Cove Beach Club and RV Resort is another great option for travelers looking to explore the city. The campground offers 38 full hookup RV campsites. Each campsite includes a picnic table, a fire pit, free Wi-Fi and cable TV.
The attached beach club has many activities for campers to enjoy. The highlight of the beach club is the large, outdoor swimming pool with a Tarzan swing, water slides, a giant splash bucket and more. Campers also have access to a concession stand, basketball courts, a volleyball court, tree houses, swing sets and catch and release fishing lakes.
Best RV Parks near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
For another cosmopolitan Pennsylvania experience, campers can visit the City of Brotherly Love. All of the below campgrounds and RV parks are within an hour’s drive of the city.
Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday
While this KOA is actually located in New Jersey, it is one of the closest RV parks to Philadelphia. Located just across the river from the city, the Philadelphia South KOA Holiday is just a 20-minute drive to downtown. The campground has just over 100 full hookup RV sites. Travelers with dogs should check out the KOA’s PawPen sites, which are one of our favorite dog-friendly campground features.
The KOA Holiday also has plenty of on-site activities for campers who want to escape from the city. An outdoor swimming is open throughout the summer months. Other features include a catch and release fishing pond, bicycle rentals and a fenced-in dog park.
Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday
About an hour’s drive west of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia West KOA Holiday is another great KOA campground. The RV park has under 100 RV campsites offering full or partial hookups. The best sites are the Patio campsites with a large patio and comfortable outdoor furniture.
The campground has all the amenities RVers want in a family camping resort, including a swimming pool, a mini golf course, canoe rentals, a jump pad, a dog park and a playground. The park also has several unique activities, including a GaGa ball pit and a gem mine.
Spring Gulch RV Campground
Spring Gulch RV Campground is located about an hour west of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. The large campground has over 400 RV campsites with full or partial hookups. The campground is open seasonally from April to early November. Spring Gulch is a Thousand Trails campground.
Water features at Spring Gulch include a fishing pond, a spring-fed swimming pond, two Olympic-sized swimming pools and a hot tub. Other great amenities include a fitness room, multiple playgrounds, miniature golf, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, basketball courts and tennis courts.
Sun Outdoors Lancaster County
Just over 10 miles north of Spring Gulch, campers will find Sun Outdoors Lancaster Country. This RV resort is another high-end campground about an hour west of Philadelphia. The gnome-themed resort offers hundreds of RV campsites with full hookups and gravel or paved pads. The resort is open from April to October.
This Sun Outdoors resort does not lack ways to entertain campers. First, the pool complex offers both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a hot tub and a kiddie pool with fountains. An on-site lake can be used for fishing, canoeing or kayaking. The campground also rents rowboats and pedalboats to use on the lake. Other resort amenities, include a café, an arcade room, golf cart rentals and miniature golf.

Drummer Boy Camping Resort
Another Thousand Trails campground, Drummer Boy Camping Resort is located just a few minutes away from downtown Gettysburg. The wooded campground offers over 400 RV campsites with partial or full hookups. The resort is open from April through October.
After learning about the history of the local area, campers can retreat to Drummer Boy resort for some fun in the sun. The RV park offers many amenities, including a swimming pool, a catch and release fishing pond, basketball courts, a miniature golf course, volleyball courts and playgrounds.
Friendship Village Campground and RV Park
Friendship Village Campground is located in south central Pennsylvania along the Raystown branch of the Juniata River. The campground has over 100 RV campsites with full or partial hookups. Friendship Village is open year-round, but water at RV sites is turned off during the winter season.
Although it is a family-owned campground, Friendship Village has many of the same amenities as other RV resort brands. These fun features include two swimming pools, a jumping pillow, a miniature golf course, fishing ponds, a game room and shuffleboard, volleyball and basketball courts.
Twin Grove RV Resort
Located in the rolling mountains of central Pennsylvania, Twin Grove RV Resort focuses on providing a high quality camping experience. The year-round campground has 218 full hookup RV sites. Twin Grove offers all the standard amenities expected at a resort, including two swimming pools with water slides, a fitness center, dog parks, a playground and sports courts. However, Twin Grove also has one of the most unique RV park amenities in the country: a ride area with a full size carousel and 60 foot Ferris wheel.
Whispering Winds Campground
Last, but not least on our list of the best RV parks in Pennsylvania is Whispering Winds Campgrounds. The campground is located in the heart of the Allegheny National Forest in the northwest section of the state. The small campground offers RV campsites with full hookups and cable TV.
The on-site amenities at Whispering Winds include a heated swimming pool, a children’s playground, volleyball courts, a game room and a camp store. Anglers can cast lines in the native trout stream that runs through the campground, while hikers can stroll right into the national forest.
