Best RV Parks near Erie, Pennsylvania

Located on the shores of the great lake with the same name, Erie, Pennsylvania is the best spot in the state for a summer beach vacation. All campers should explore the nearby Presque Isle State Park, located on a peninsula with beaches and trails. For campers who love the beach, these Erie campgrounds are some of the best RV parks in Pennsylvania.

Erie KOA Holiday

Located nine miles from Presque Island, the Erie KOA Holiday is a great family friendly campground. The medium-size campground offers under 100 full and partial hookup RV campsites, all of which are close to the small, on-site lake. Tent camping and cabin rentals are also available. In addition to the nearby beaches, there are plenty of fun activities to entertain visitors. Campers can fish in the KOA’s catch and release pond, swim in the campground’s heated pool, play games in the recreation room or bounce on the jump pad. Lampe Campground

Located beside the Lampe Marina on Lake Erie, Lampe Campground offers 42 waterfront campsites for RVs. Each campsite includes water and electric hookups, and restrooms and a dump station are available for all campers. The campground is open from May through October, and reservations are available up to one year in advance.

The main amenity of this RV campground is its proximity to the water. A bike path leas directly from the campground to Presque Isle State Park and other waterfront attractions. A free public boat launch is also available on-site. Lampe also has basic amenities, including a fire ring at each campsite and laundry facilities.

Presque Isle Passage RV Park

Only seven miles from the beach, Presque Isle Passage RV Park is another great RV camping option near Erie, Pennsylvania. The campground offers over 100 RV campsites with full hookups, Wi-Fi and cable TV. Each campsite also has its own picnic table and fire ring. The campground is open from April to October.

The campground has many amenities for the whole family, including a heated swimming pool and a catch and release fishing pond. There are also several places for kids to play, including an indoor game room, a playground, a corn hole area and other yard games.

Sara’s Campground

Sara’s Campground is located on prime Erie real estate, nestled between the beach on Lake Erie and the Presque Isle Bay. Their more than 100 RV campsites offer full or partial hookups, and many also have views of the water. Tent campers are able to pitch their tent right on the sand. The campground is open from April to October.

All campers at Sara’s Campground have access to the sandy beach on Lake Erie. Off the beach, there is a playground, basketball court and a game room. The campground is also walking or biking distance to many local restaurants, shops and attractions. Less than a mile from the campground, visitors can cool off at Waldameer Water World.

Just over 20 miles from the center of the city, Mountain Top Campground is one of the closest RV parks to Pittsburgh. Pine Cove Beach Club and RV Resort

Located 50 minutes south of the city, Pine Cove Beach Club and RV Resort is another great option for travelers looking to explore the city. The campground offers 38 full hookup RV campsites. Each campsite includes a picnic table, a fire pit, free Wi-Fi and cable TV.

The attached beach club has many activities for campers to enjoy. The highlight of the beach club is the large, outdoor swimming pool with a Tarzan swing, water slides, a giant splash bucket and more. Best RV Parks near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday

While this KOA is actually located in New Jersey, it is one of the closest RV parks to Philadelphia. Located just across the river from the city, the Philadelphia South KOA Holiday is just a 20-minute drive to downtown. The campground has just over 100 full hookup RV sites. Travelers with dogs should check out the KOA’s PawPen sites, which are one of our favorite dog-friendly campground features.

The KOA Holiday also has plenty of on-site activities for campers who want to escape from the city. An outdoor swimming is open throughout the summer months. Other features include a catch and release fishing pond, bicycle rentals and a fenced-in dog park.

Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday

About an hour’s drive west of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia West KOA Holiday is another great KOA campground. The RV park has under 100 RV campsites offering full or partial hookups. The best sites are the Patio campsites with a large patio and comfortable outdoor furniture.

The campground has all the amenities RVers want in a family camping resort, including a swimming pool, a mini golf course, canoe rentals, a jump pad, a dog park and a playground. The park also has several unique activities, including a GaGa ball pit and a gem mine.

Spring Gulch RV Campground

Spring Gulch RV Campground is located about an hour west of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. The large campground has over 400 RV campsites with full or partial hookups. The campground is open seasonally from April to early November. Spring Gulch is a Thousand Trails campground.

Water features at Spring Gulch include a fishing pond, a spring-fed swimming pond, two Olympic-sized swimming pools and a hot tub. Other great amenities include a fitness room, multiple playgrounds, miniature golf, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, basketball courts and tennis courts.

Sun Outdoors Lancaster County 

Just over 10 miles north of Spring Gulch, campers will find Sun Outdoors Lancaster Country. This RV resort is another high-end campground about an hour west of Philadelphia. The gnome-themed resort offers hundreds of RV campsites with full hookups and gravel or paved pads. The resort is open from April to October.

This Sun Outdoors resort does not lack ways to entertain campers. First, the pool complex offers both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a hot tub and a kiddie pool with fountains. An on-site lake can be used for fishing, canoeing or kayaking. The campground also rents rowboats and pedalboats to use on the lake. Other resort amenities, include a café, an arcade room, golf cart rentals and miniature golf.

Twin Grove RV Resort

Located in the rolling mountains of central Pennsylvania, Twin Grove RV Resort focuses on providing a high quality camping experience. The year-round campground has 218 full hookup RV sites.
